NEWPORT BEACH, CA – July 10, 2013 – The Resort at Pelican Hill®, Newport Beach’s only Forbes Five-Star resort, invites guests and locals to savor the flavors of the harvest season with an abundance of seasonal epicurean experiences. This autumn, the chefs of Pelican Hill present a fresh lineup of hands-on Culinary Academy classes, while families delight in the Resort’s annual Pumpkin Harvest and pre-holiday season Etiquette Classes. Beginning in October, epicureans will enjoy white truffles at Andrea, olive oil-inspired menus at Pelican Grill and sweet and savory pumpkin specials at Coliseum Pool & Grill.

Explore the flavors of the season with fresh, local ingredients from the Irvine Ranch, as one of Pelican Hill’s chefs du cuisine leads a hands-on preparation course paired with wines. Classes take place Friday evenings in a luxurious Villa kitchen and feature a distinct menu theme:

Family Pumpkin Harvest
October 26 & 27 from 12 – 4 p.m.
With the guidance of Irvine Ranch experts, select the perfect pumpkins for decorating and dining. For children ages 5-12, Camp Pelican hosts an afternoon of fun and learning with supervised pumpkin decorating, crafts, lunch and harvest-themed games.

Children’s Resort Etiquette Classes

As the holiday entertaining and travel season approaches, children are cordially invited to expand their understanding of social, travel and dining etiquette with a fun and educational class. Led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol, each 2.5-hour course offers a positive, relaxed and approachable setting. Separate age-appropriate sessions on each class date are designed for ages 5-7 or ages 8-12.

Couples’ Etiquette Soirées
Thursdays, October 3 & 17, and Thursdays, November 7 & 21
Just in time for holiday gatherings, polish your dining and social etiquette during this two-hour soirée led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol. Wednesday Evening Art & Olives Tour

Discover the Resort’s collection of plein air paintings, Renaissance tapestries, antiques, Palladian architecture and Italian landscape during this 45-minute guided walking tour. Conclude with an olive oil tasting led by Resort chefs.

Pelican Grill presents a monthly Chef’s Table Menu designed for up to eight guests. Five courses of customized cuisine highlight eco-friendly seafood, grass-fed natural meats and the freshest local produce from the Irvine Ranch, just eight miles from the Grill. Served at a private chef’s table and introduced personally at the tableside by Chef Derek, each course is paired with reserve wine pairings. Personalized entertainment may also be arranged.
