Our Story

From the moment of arrival, you’ll experience a place like no other. The relaxed comfort of Pelican Hill® takes inspiration from the work of 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio, best known for his grand homes across the Venetian countryside. Like the Mediterranean, the sun-drenched climate of Southern California allows for indoor spaces to open up to the outdoors and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Each one-story Bungalow Guest Room or Bungalow Suite features a limestone fireplace, private terrace, most with ocean views, hand-hewn wood beam ceiling, marble bath and adjacent parking. They are a spacious 847 to 1,634 square feet.

Our Villas are set in an exclusive, gated enclave and are a more intimate way to enjoy The Resort with a private clubhouse and pool, butler service and dedicated staff. Ranging from 2,193 to 3,581 square feet, The Villas offer two, three or four bedrooms and expansive ocean-view terraces.

Pelican Hill continues to be a top-rated and highly acclaimed Resort earning some of the highest honors and awards within the hospitality industry. To view these accolades, please click here.

ARCHITECTURE

The architectural style of the Resort is inspired by the works of Andrea Palladio, an Italian architect from the 16th century. The beauty and harmony you feel is the result of thousands of small details- from the Italian plaster finish that enhances with age to the hand-made terra cotta finials sculpted by a master ceramicist.

Landscape

The overall vision was to create a Northern Italian environment. Groves of olive trees, rows of lavender, cypress, fig and pine trees plus 45 foot Canary palms grace the Resort, evoking a timeless, authentic landscape. A natural setting that relaxes and invites strolling throughout the grounds. Unique to Pelican Hill is our Festa dell’Autunno, which takes place in the Fall, where the Resort hosts a weekend celebration dedicated to the harvest season.
