WEEK 4

Mental Training:
Learn a 4 Step Routine to Perform Your Best

Golf is one of the most challenging skills to perform at a high level for many reasons. What will be addressed with this clinic is most of us do not have a routine to help us accurately assess how we performed. If we don’t know how to measure how we perform, how do we make adjustments/upgrades to our game to grow and perform better? Learning the following Routine will give us a process to help us perform at the highest Level.

Mental Training:
Learn a 4 Step Routine to Perform Your Best

The routine is:

See the Shot
Create a Visual image of the shot that you plan on executing.

Feel the Shot
Feel the technique required to execute the shot that you Visualized.

Execute the Shot
Execute the Shot that you felt.

Evaluate the Shot
If the shot performed well, put that in your confidence memory bank to reinforce the fact that you can perform at a high level. Nurture that Bank so that you can grow in confidence. If your shot did not perform well, you must learn a process to help you accurately measure why you struggled and what the proper steps are to learn and improve from that mistake. When you fail you need to embrace the process of learning and growing, which through time will help you perform your best!

To properly evaluate how you performed, you will need to understand what these three different forms of measurement told you about your last golf shot.

One form of measurement is the contact of the golf ball. Almost immediately we know when we’ve hit a solid shot or a poor shot by our feeling of impact.

A second form of measurement is the flight of the golf ball. We know how a golf ball is performing based upon the flight of the golf ball, as well as the final destination of the golf ball.

The last form of measurement is the feeling of the golf swing itself. Did you execute the technique required to produce the intended ball flight?
