Health & Safety Updates

From the very beginning of this situation, our property has increased its efforts to protect all who visit and the safety and well-being of you, our guests and our employees will continue to be our top priority. As the situation remains very fluid, additional changes may transpire in the days to come, and we will communicate any updates as they arise.

Resort Updates

Effective March 17, 2020, the Orange County Health Officer has instructed the county to close all dine-in restaurant and bar options. As a reminder, please be aware the following areas of the Resort remain temporarily closed:

  • The Spa at Pelican HillSpa Boutique, Allegra, and the Newsstand & Gift Shop
  • Golf Shop and Caffe II
  • Fitness Centers at Main Estate and Villas
  • Coliseum Pool & Grill food and beverage service postponed until further notice.
  • Pelican Grill food and beverage service postponed until further notice.
  • Andrea food and beverage service postponed until further notice.
  • Camp Pelican is closed until further notice.
  • Coliseum Pool and Villa Pool are closed until further notice.

The following facilities and amenities are available:

  • Caffe & Market will remain open to Resort guests and locals for daily to-go service only.
  • In-Room Dining will continue to be available to our in-house guests.
  • Villa Clubhouse food and beverage service is available for to-go service only.
  • Pelican Hill Golf Club is reopened to Resort guests, Gold & Platinum Members, and Preferred Program Participants, with plans to continue the gradual reopening to the public in the future.

To provide additional peace of mind, please note the following, applicable to all leisure travel reservations:

  • For reservations made via online travel agents or other third party travel professionals, please contact your booking provider for information on their policies.

We are excited to announce the reopening of Pelican Hill Golf Club for Platinum and Gold Members, Preferred Program Participants, and Resort Guests, on May 18, 2020.

The reopening will feature enhanced sanitation and social distancing practices as directed by Federal, State and Local authorities. The safety of our guests and associates continues to be our highest priority, and we will gradually reopen our golf amenities to the public in the future.

We are excited to announce the first phase of reopening of Pelican Hill Golf Club, for Platinum and Gold Members only, on May 1, 2020. 

As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, we are following guidance from Federal, State and Local authorities including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and will revise our operations plan accordingly, if required. As we gradually reopen our golf amenities, our website will continue to be the best information source for schedule updates and hours of operation.

The safety of our club members and associates remains our highest priority. We have thoroughly reviewed our plans to serve you in a safe, healthy, and efficient manner. I would like to highlight just a few of these steps.

  • Reduced capacities will be implemented at golf facilities, including delayed access for resort guests and no access for general public players until further notice. 
  • Reservations for tee times are required, no walk-ins will be accepted. 
  • To avoid congestion around the clubhouse and the starting area, please do not arrive at the course more than 15 minutes prior to your tee time. 
  • New social distancing practices will be observed, including one person per golf cart, unless both are members of the same household. 
  • A selection of pre-packaged food and drink items will be available for takeout from Caffe II. Beverage cart offerings will not be available. We encourage players to purchase food & beverage prior to play.
  • Multiple touch-free hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed around the clubhouse, as well as the restrooms and the locker rooms. 
  • An enhanced schedule of servicing, sanitizing, and cleaning all public areas includes common touch points such as door frames, doorknobs, handles, elevator push buttons, and rails. 
  • Locker room showers and guest lockers are not available at this time.
  • Golf carts will be cleaned using EPA registered disinfectants approved for use against COVID-19 before and after each use. Select items have been removed from carts for your safety and to ensure easy disinfection.
  • The Driving Range & Practice Facility is closed, but will hopefully reopen in the weeks ahead.
  • The Pro Shop will remain closed at this time.
  • Rental shoes,clubs, and shoe cleaning services are not available at this time.
  • For your safety, club storage is not available at the facility and associates will not touch guests’ bags and clubs. Clubs currently in storage may be picked up upon arrival. We ask that the owner retain their clubs following play.
  • No valet services at this time, self-parking only.

Discussion with our community, friends and hotel guests:

The Irvine Company has always viewed our hotel and resort locations as warm community gathering places providing comfort to the overnight guest and a warm environment for community meetings and special events.

As you know, the hospitality industry, including hotel guest services in the Irvine and Newport Beach areas have been deeply impacted by the near shutdown in travel brought about by the severe health and economic crisis. Every hotel in our region has been impacted and many have closed, including the nearby Disney hotel which closed weeks ago.

Throughout this period, the Resort at Pelican Hill has remained open as a benefit to the community. We are proud to say that we have been able to serve our guests in a responsible manner during this pandemic period maintaining strict health and safety guidelines.

As we continue to receive guidance from the CDC and our State and local public health officials, it is clear that the hotel industry will evolve into a new level of hotel guest expectations and service. The Irvine Company is utilizing this slow period of reduced demand to plan for the future. This future planning may include the repositioning and reimagining of our hotels with a focus on delivering a first-class clean, safe and healthy environment for our local communities, our guests and our hotel service personnel.

The Irvine Company is planning to reopen the two hotels with quality improvements and modern features in the near term and we look forward to the day of welcoming back our friends, community members, hotel guests and hotel associates. We will stay in touch with you and the community.

Effective Monday, March 23, The Resort at Pelican Hill’s retail shops and online store will temporarily close to protect the well-being of our guests and employees. In the interim, Pelican Hill gift cards are available for purchase exclusively at the Resort’s Villa Clubhouse Front Desk. Starting Tuesday, March 17 Andrea, Pelican Grill and Coliseum Pool & Grill will temporarily close to comply with the recommendations of our government leaders and health officials to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The safety and well-being of our guests, clients, and employees is our top priority. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

The Orange County Health Officer has instructed the county to close all dine-in restaurant and bar options. Please be aware that effective immediately, the following areas of the Resort will be closed:

We recognize that you may have concerns or hesitations about traveling due to the latest news and information about COVID-19. On behalf of The Resort at Pelican Hill, I would like to share with you some of the steps we’re taking to assist our guests, clients and employees during these uncertain times.

First and foremost, please know that the safety and well-being of our guests and clients continue to be our top priority. From the very beginning of this situation, our property has increased its efforts to protect all who visit us. These efforts include:

  • Additional cleaning procedures in all areas of the hotel, including increasing the frequency of these cleaning routines with an emphasis on all high-touch areas.
  • Placing hand sanitizers in key areas around the property, including our lobby, meeting spaces, and other public spaces.
  • Educating our employees on the steps they should be taking to keep themselves safe and healthy, including the expectation to stay home if they don’t feel well for any reason.

Our resort benefits from an outdoor, open-concept design. In addition, most of our accommodations and common areas can be accessed without the use of an elevator.

We also regularly monitor updates from the CDC and the Orange County Health Care Agency and are prepared to respond quickly based on their advice and recommendations.

According to the Orange County Public Health Care Agency, the risk of infection to the public in Orange County is believed to be low. Indeed, we are pleased to welcome guests to our hotel, in our restaurants, and on our golf courses each day.
